and maybe if we fumble passed tongues coming undone

we can undress these wounds

and walk for miles –

back to where we came from

scene two:

it’s okay if you don’t know where the kiskatinaw meets the peace

but i hope you know that i have existed

by dipping my feet in both rivers

and eating berries from the bushes that grow on their banks
